It is the Room Parents’ job to facilitate communication and community amongst the parents and the teacher of the classroom, to encourage participation in both classroom and school activities, to volunteer time to both such activities and to coordinate volunteering for said activities amongst the parents in the class. The room parent will also be a representative of the PTO within the class and will communicate important information and act as a point of contact for the parents within the class.
The Room Parent will be responsible for the following:
To be a classroom leader, soliciting and coordinating class participation for classroom, school and parish activities as requested by the Teacher, Principal, or PTO.
Be in contact with all parents in your child’s class.
Share information, encourage participation and support fellowship among parents and with the teacher.
Encourage and organize participation in school and parish activities.
Organize fellowship activities for the parents/families of the class separate from school activities.
Attend PTO meetings (both room parents do not have to be present at every meeting) and relay the information gathered to the parents of the class.
To keep in contact with the PTO in regard to volunteers, class participation, and any other questions or concerns raised by parents within the class.

Responsibilities Include: Attend PTO monthly meetings, represent PTO and build community among classroom parents, assist with events and activities, organize teacher appreciation, organize classroom families participation in events and activities. Actively participating as a classroom parent and buddy will fulfill your 15 service hour requirement for the school year.
The following is a general list of "To Do"s for the classroom parents and buddies to organize over the school year: **Each month, a different class will provide for Teacher Appreciation. Classroom parents will need volunteers to donate things and setup the items in the faculty room** (1 service hour for supplying items. Additional service hour(s) for setup.)

Back to School Night- sit at the check-in table and sign-in classroom families
September
Identify a design for Trunk or Treat next month
Organize with classroom teacher for students to create thematic decorations for the Trunk
October
Collect a bag of candy from each class family for Trunk or Treat (1 service hour for each family supplying candy)
A family to provide their car trunk for Trunk or Treat decorating (service hours for duration of volunteering)
Family volunteers for setup, running activities, and cleanup for Trunk or Treat (service hours for duration of volunteering)

Create theme for Mardi Gras auction basket and request themed gift cards and items to place in the basket to be auctioned at the dance (1 service hour for contributed items)
